Edwina Session with the Falling Waters Trio & Black Diamond Duo
On Saturday, November 11th from 7:30pm to 9:30pm Winter Village will host a special Veterans Day concert at La Tourelles banquet room/concert hall.  The room will be set up for an acoustic performance with seats set in a semi-circle around the performer area (no stage) and with just one microphone to gently reinforce the sound as needed.  This show will feature the Falling Waters Trio (Ariana Kim, Tom Hodgson & Rick Manning)  and Black Diamond Duo (Naomi Sommers & Rick Manning).  Veterans are welcome to attend the show for at no charge.

The Falling Waters Trio is a mini-version of String Theory and features violinist Ariana Kim, guitarist Tom Hodgson and mandolinist/fiddler Rick Manning performing a set of string music from Whistling Swans and Yellow Barn, along with some other trio favorites.  Ariana is a world class violinist and violin professor at Cornell University with a PHD from Julliard, who happens to love bluegrass and fiddle music.  You can learn more about Ariana HERE.  Tom Hodgson is a wonderful rhythm guitarist who has performed and recorded with many of the finest New England fiddlers and contradance bands, along with Ithaca's Contradictions, String Theory, Martin Hayes and many more.  Mandolinist and fiddler Rick Manning has recorded 5 CD's, 3 with Cornerstone and 2 with the Falling Waters Trio/Grietzer-Hodgson-Manning. He performs with The Contradictions, String TheoryParis Texas and in a duo - Black Diamond - with Naomi Sommers.

Naomi Sommers and Rick Manning - the recently named Black Diamond Duo - will open the concert with a set of songs and tunes featuring Naomi's fine singing and songwriting, accompanied by Rick's harmony singing and instrumental support on fiddle and mandolin.  Naomi grew up in a musical family in Connecticut performing and recording on many records with the family.  She recorded many of her original songs in Nashville on a fine record entitled "Gentle as the Sun".
